ZONTA SPORTS AWARDS

The Zonta Sports Awards were held on Thursday 25 October at the Hornby Workingmen’s Club. These awards are held to celebrate the top athletes in the Canterbury / West Coast region, plus the students who give back to their sport and school through officiating and organising.

PPTA Paid Union Meeting

School will finish early on Friday, 9th November due to a Paid Union Meeting. There will be no period 4 & 5 and students will leave school for the day at 12.05pm. If it is necessary for your daughter to stay at school during this time, she should go to the Library where she will be supervised in private study by non PPTA teaching staff.

Exam Stress

It's that time of year...

Most students notice some anxiety and tension at the thought of sitting exams. Feeling anxious about assessment is normal, and to be expected. A moderate amount of anxiety may not be a bad thing as it can sharpen concentration and performance, helping us to create extra energy and momentum needed to keep us studying (even though we might prefer to be doing something else!) Some students, however, will experience a degree of stress and anxiety that is quite defeating. Their fears can affect them physically, for example, difficulty sleeping, headaches, nausea; or mentally, for example, lack of concentration, irritability, feeling overwhelmed.

Swimming & Water Safety Survey

Be in to WIN! You could win a free fun day for your school at Jellie Park (pool and slide) on the 18th December by filling in a short survey, via the link below, around water safety and learning to swim. Each entry increases your school’s chance of winning. Currently only 30% of school age children participate in swimming lessons and the Christchurch City Council’s Swimsmart team are keen to understand parents and caregivers views around water safety and learning to swim.
