Below is a list of schools that which operated in the Cheviot District since settlement. Only one still remains open today - Cheviot Area School, also known as Cheviot District High School, Cheviot School and McKenzie School.
1894 - 2019
MCKENZIE/CHEVIOT: Opened 1894
In 1931 the McKenzie School had its name changed to Cheviot School. In 1937 a secondary department was added and the school became known as Cheviot District High School.
The school was re-organised into an Area School in 1976.
SPOTSWOOD: Opened 1894, closed 1931
DOMETT: Opened 1895, closed 1928
PORT ROBINSON: Opened 1895, closed 1920
LEAMINGTON: Opened 1896, closed 1906
1909 - 1925
CONWAY FLAT: Opened 1909, closed 1915. Reopened 1936, closed 1972
ETHELTON: Opened 1911, closed 1935
LEADERVALE: Opened 1912, closed 1913. Reopened 1933, closed 1936
TORMORE: Opened 1915, closed 1964
PARNASSUS: Opened 1918 - closed 2006
GORE BAY: Opened 1925, closed 1949
