Term 1 Week 8
Some of our awesome pupils are excelling in sports....
Year 5/6 Hurunui Primary Schools Duathlon
On Wednesday 27 CAS students participated in the Hurunui Primary Schools Duathlon in Hanmer. It was a great experience for all of them.
Liv O'Carroll 2nd Year 5 Girl
Jack Forrester 2nd Year 5 Boy
Isabel Pavey 1st Year 6 Girl
Evie Davies 3rd Year 6 Girl
Ada Chambers 3rd Year 7 Girl
Axel Morgan 1st Year 8 Boy
A big thank you to Jess Davies, Nicky Jamison and Karli Chambers for being our marshals on course and to all the parents that helped transport students over.
Cycling NZ Schools, South Island MTB Championships
Jack A'Court is currently representing Cheviot Area School at Coronet Peak at the South Island Mountain Bike Championships. There are over 500 competitors competing across three disciplines; cross country, downhill and endurance. The racing is fast, competitive and full on! We can't wait to hear all about it when you are back!
Incredibly Rare
Getting a hat trick (3 wickets in 3 consecutive balls) in cricket is a rare happening. At Cricket last Saturday we had 2 of our great lads both get hattricks.... in the same match. Congrats to Frank Shield and to Tom Hanna.
Behaviour
As well as the great stuff that is happening there have been some behaviour incidents that have been a cause for concern. Please know that the school will work with parents, especially with more serious incidents, so that we can develop joint approaches and expectations.
Next week we have our BOT meeting on Tuesday. Terri will be reporting back to the BOT on the recent survey. BOT will then let our school community know what the process is for the feedback to our community
On Wednesday some students are going to Canterbury Primary Swimming Sports.
We have been notified that an ERO visit is happening shortly. The feedback from the ERO process, as well as the latest survey will give us valuable feedback for the future, along with the areas we have already identified in our Strategic Plan.
Easter weekend is next weekend so school is closed on Friday 29th, Monday 1st April and Tuesday 2nd April.
Student's Work
Lot's of great work from all of our students. I have attached this piece from Ollie Bruce.
