Bus information

Elspeth Loughnan —

We have had a few inquires about various bus routes  this term and we thought we would clarify a few things. Please do not hesitate to call either Blair, Elspeth or Di Hoban if you have any questions.

The ministry determines where the bus will go. We have no say in the decision and neither does the bus company.

A bus run is only changed BY THE MINISTRY if seven or more children are on a road that the bus does not currently go down.

The ministry determines who goes on which run and this is not to be altered. Even if you have a different bus going past your place , we are required to have your child on the bus as directed by the ministry.

The ministry determines the size of the bus for each run, which then the bus contractor must provide.

The bus run will never go to the end of the line . The MOE will only fund the run to within 2 kms of the last house or nearest turning point to this, but not closer to the house. These families are then paid for mileage to get to the bus stop.

We do give the ministry attendance data of the children whose parents are recompensed for driving them to meet the bus at the end of the line. We get this data from our school  attendance register- it does not actually matter whether you transported them or they took the bus.

We do have application forms for those who wish to apply for conveyancy funding. We have noticed some families with new entrants to the school may need a form for their younger child. These are at the office.

The ministry is looking at our bus routes in June of this year. We will wait and see what they come up with.
