Roger's Ramblings
Senior Pupils
There have been some great sights (and some mildly disturbing ones) with senior students and staff having themed mufti days all this week. The mufti days were a student idea to create a fun atmosphere at school before the seriousness of NCEA exams start. There has been really positive feedback about the NCEA course booklet. I apologise for the tight turnaround in the book coming home and the need for course selections to be made. Next year the course selection material will be sent out in Term 3.
BOT spot
I just want to recognise our Board, as a lot of people don’t realise the hard work they put in behind the scenes.
Our Board are:
- Hamish Chamberlain: Presiding Member,
- Kate O’Carroll: Finance,
- Marcel van Reenen: Property,
- Fiona Bush: Policy, Health and Safety,
- Heidi Tirikatene-Nash (newly elected): Cultural Responsiveness,
- Jo Dodge: Staff representative
- Scott Hoban: Student Representative
The photo this week is after a meeting I had with Hamish Chamberlain, our BOT Chairperson (Presiding Member). Hamish and I have a weekly meeting to talk about school issues and progress. On top of their portfolios and monthly meetings, they have recently spent significant time on the Strategic Plan refocus.
Athletics
Hurunui Athletics will take place on Monday 6th November at Amuri, with the postponement date of Wednesday 8th November. Thank you to Mrs Sheild for organising this event.
Teacher Only Day
We have a Teacher Only Day on Thursday 16th November. This is the Thursday of Show weekend. As you can well imagine with a curriculum refresh (for more info click here) as well as planning for exciting happenings at CAS in 2024 there is a lot to cover and discuss for our staff on that day.
Have a great weekend,
Roger
