A wonderful community event.

The annual athletics day was a huge success with sunny skies and lots of nervous but excited students.

The day was about coming together as a community to appreciate our ability to run, jump and throw. The students showed off their skills but most importantly displayed grit and sportsmanship. It was also an opportunity for students to be selected for the school team to go to Hurunui Champs on November 5th.

Each student earned a point for their house in every event they took part in along with bonus points for placing in the top 4.

Year level house champions will be announced at our next Hui but the overall standings are as follows:

• 1st place Robinson 1037 points

• 2nd place McKenzie 779 points

• 3rd place Campbell 512 points

A special mention to the Y 7 - 8 Campbell students for your team spirit and very yellow outfits.

Thank you to all the staff for helping before, during and after the event. A special mention to Lucy for getting the field ready.

Thank you to all the year 9 - 13 students who helped officiate at the different evens. A shout out to parents who managed year groups and helped at the different events.

Lastly well done to all our students, who for some, this day is a real challenge. You can all be very proud of yourselves.
