Rockquest 2017
The six rock bands from Chisnallwood played at Rockquest in the weekend. They all played well. There were about 45 bands mainly from high schools and it was awesome to have one of our bands get through to the regional finals which will be held on June 23rd - Congratulations to "Class Disruption"! Thanks to all the band members, parents and teachers involved.
Hear from some of our band members involved in Rockquest...
Ryan Scammell from "The Breaking Point" - It was so exciting to be on stage and playing with such an amazing sound system and it felt really special to be performing in Rock Quest with my band mates /friends.
Sarah McCaffery - Rockquest was really fun but I was so nervous because it is quite a big competition and high school bands compete. The thing that scared me the most was if I mucked up all the bass playing and let the band down but I didn’t so that’s ok. The band that I was in did really well and we still might get the Best Lyrics Award so we’re happy. Overall it was a great experience !!!
Lanu Wright from "Island Rhythms" - Rockquest was really awesome. I was really nervous to stand in front of a lot of people. Tayjuan, Te-Wera, Xavier and I did a really good job we loved how we all worked together as a team. For us it was hard to sing in front of other different bands but im really proud that our band just went up there and had confidence and happiness in there selves and just did what we had to do. But we are happy that we tried our best!!!
Dylan Jonkers from "Class Disruption" - Boy were we nervous. We were going against high school bands. We never would have expected to be the only intermediate band to make it to the next round.
Lola from "Am I Right" - We were't in it to win we were in it for the incredible experience and privilege.
Amelia from "Soundwave" - Being first up was a bit nerve-racking but once we got into the groove of the song it was just like a rehearsal.
Tylah and the "Negligent 5" Rockquest was really amazing, although I was very nervous walking out on stage. It was a very eye-opening experience for me and the band.
