Message from our Acting Principals

Sue Spiers & Jared Hopkins —

Kia ora koutou, nei ra te mihi, maioha ki a koutou katoa. Hello everyone, special greetings to you all.

School holidays are almost here, and we hope all our community can have some time to refresh and enjoy some quality time with your tamariki.

Support Staff Day was celebrated throughout the country this week, and we would like to acknowledge all of our Support Staff here at CTK. They do all manner of jobs to help the teachers and our students. Thank you again to all of our wonderful Support Staff!

On Monday, 23 Year 7 & 8 students attended a Canterbury Korfball tournament in freezing conditions. Our students played awesomely and were unlucky not to win more games. Both teams made it to the round of 16 and were looking good to advance further. CTK 1 made it to the quarter finals and CTK 2 were knocked out in the Round of 16. Thank you to all those wonderful parents who helped transport and look after the teams.

Our Middle/Senior School Production is ramping up already! Mr McInnes and Mrs Coyle have kindly given up their lunchtimes to audition our students. Thank you to all the students who participated in this process. Mrs Spiers and I noticed and were very impressed by how many Middle School students auditioned. It takes courage and a growth mindset to do this, so well done, Middle School.

Yesterday the Junior School celebrated Matariki by holding a ‘Stories Under The Stars’ evening. The Junior children had a magical time. They returned to school at 6.00pm dressed in their PJs and dressing gowns, listened to Matariki stories, danced and completed craft activities. Thank you to our Junior Teachers for making this such a special evening.

Just a reminder that reports can be accessed tomorrow on HERO and these will be followed up by our Parent/Teacher Interviews (Middle & Senior Schools) and Student Led Conferences (Junior School) on Tuesday 18 July and Wednesday 19 July. Please book a time to see your child’s teacher as appointment slots will be closed off on Friday, July 14. Please note that school will finish at 2.00 pm on Tuesday 18 July. Reports will be made public to parents at 3.00 pm tomorrow.

As always, plenty is going on at CTK!

Nga mihi

Jared Hopkins
