VexIQ Robotics Success

Tom Wallis —

Throughout Term 1, several of our enthusiastic Year 7 and 8 students have been actively engaged in the VexIQ Robotics Programme facilitated by Wilj Dekkers after school in the School Hall.

Thanks to the support from the Greater Christchurch Schools' Network, we've been able to offer this robotics program to our Year 7 and 8 students at absolutely no cost to the schools! Collaborating with the Christchurch Libraries Learning Team, Wilj has been guiding our students through the intricacies of the VexIQ Robotics System.

Each session has been dedicated to nurturing engineering skills, fostering teamwork, encouraging critical thinking, and honing problem-solving abilities.

On Wednesday our Year 7 and 8 students seized the opportunity to showcase their STEM achievements in a friendly competition alongside peers from other schools in Waimairi-iri. The students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with one of our teams securing 1st Place!

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Wilj for generously dedicating his time to work with our students, and to Mr. Hopkins for orchestrating this enriching event. We're also grateful to the parents and caregivers who supported the students by assisting with transportation on the day.
