Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits

Roanne Tait —

The Middle and Senior Production of Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits was performed at the Aurora Centre on Thursday 07 November. After many months of learning lines, acting workshops, singing, dancing, making props and costume sewing the cast were ready to perform!

On the morning of our big show, the children all practised over in the Aurora Centre for the first time, where they were trying out microphones, lights, special effects and transitions from the wings, not to mention the stage space was double the size of our school hall!

The time to perform for an audience had finally come around, and many nervous actors and singers arrived early to get their makeup done and costumes on! A big thank you goes to all of the teachers and parent helpers who were in the Greenroom managing the nerves of the children and preparing pep talks. Mr Bonisch, Miss Whitham and Mr McInnes had their final words of wisdom with the children before the curtain went up and the magic began.

I think it’s fair to say that our production was a total success. The children were well rehearsed and it certainly showed on stage. Our show was filled with great acting, magnificent puns, fabulous singing and dancing! The parents and wider community in the audience were having a blast, and laughing away while being fully captivated by the performance from the children. We cannot begin to to state how thankful we are for all of the support that was given towards making the production what it was. Whether you were part of the sewing bee, or learning lines with your child while cooking dinner, we truly appreciate the outpouring of support. Congratulations again to all of the children involved, we would not have had such a successful production without you.
