Kapa Haka Performance

Christian Ioane and Macy Bennet —

On the night of the 16th of August, our school Kapa Haka group went to the Aurora Centre to perform in a Cultural Festival for schools in our Area.

The schools that performed were Allenvale school, Burnside Primary, Burnside High School and St Patricks.

Nathan Riki from Breens came to help us get ready for the big night. We had been practising for weeks and were determined to be the best up on that stage.

The Kapa Haka met in the hall and we changed into our uniforms and were ready to perform.

When it was our turn, we introduced the group with a small paragraph describing our school’s special character and how we incorporate that into our performance and Kapa Haka group. We then performed our songs. Some of these included E Minaka, Purea Nei and the Haka.

Finally, we got a big round of applause after a great performance.

The Kapa Haka group would like to thank Mr McInnes, Miss Prince, Mrs Myers and Nathan Riki for helping and supporting our group and using their own time to take practices.
