Tom Wallis —

People, Place, and Practice - Make it simple but significant

Strategic Goal 1

Our Tangata/People live according to the Gospel, fostering strong connections, and building robust relationships across Home, School, and Parish.

Initiatives

1.1 Strengthen our home, school, and parish connections to ensure that our students and families are actively integrating faith into their daily lives, fostering a greater sense of purpose and service within their communities.

1.2 Provide authentic opportunities for our parents, caregivers, and community to engage and participate in the life of the school.

1.3 Conduct a school community survey to gather feedback, foster inclusivity, and seek the community's aspirations for our students while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Our Success

Our learners, teachers, and community thrive emotionally, socially, and physically, preparing them to take their place in society as responsible and caring Christians.

Strategic Goal 2

Our Wāhi/Place is where we embrace our Catholic faith and cultivate a sense of belonging within cultural, local, national, and global contexts.

Initiatives

2.1 Explore the five goals of the Society of the Sacred Heart and align them to reflect our school's charism, values, and the Catholic special character of our school.

2.2 Collaborate with Ngāi Tūāhuriri to incorporate a cultural narrative as a guiding lens for planning and showcasing Māori as tangata whenua within our school environment.

2.3 Recognise and celebrate the cultural diversity at Christ the King, and create a plan to ensure that all cultures are honoured and respected.

Our Success

Our environment is innovative, inclusive, and engaging for all, fostering a stronger connection with God in our daily lives.

Strategic Goal 3

Our Tikanga/Practice are inclusive and promote student-centred learning across the school, led by the Sacred Heart Goals and guided by the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church.

Initiatives

3.1 Implement the Writer's Toolbox, a comprehensive whole-school approach for teaching writing skills, spanning from Year 1 to Year 13, to enhance writing proficiency across all grade levels.

3.2 Implement the iDeaL Approach school-wide to ensure consistent and effective Structured Literacy instruction for students ranging from Year 1 to Year 8.

3.3 Investigate a Conceptualised Curriculum that embodies balance, innovation, and connectivity, aiming to inspire and challenge students.

Our Success

Our teaching practices will be collaborative, creative, and innovative, addressing the needs of both our staff and students to foster growth academically and spiritually.
