Quotes from various sources on current topics.

“It can be difficult for us; humankind has always struggled with the reality of suffering and its place in our lives. However, we are God’s children and we are called to place our trust in him, knowing that his Son Jesus also suffered for us for the sake of salvation. We are especially reminded of this as we enter into Holy Week. It never ends in death, it is the beginning of a life through the resurrection. This new life is promised to us as well.”

Liturgical Year

The Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord is observed on 29th May. It is observed 40 days after Easter Sunday. These 40 days go back to the passage we can find in the Acts of the Apostles, written by Luke: “ For forty days after j=his death he appeared to them many times in ways that proved beyond doubt that he was alive. They saw him, and he talked with them about the Kingdom of God.” (Acts 1:3). The Ascension then marks the end of Jesus’ special appearances - but it did not mean his appearance for good.
