Message from our Acting Principals
Kia ora koutou, nei ra te mihi, maioha ki a koutou katoa. Hello everyone, special greetings to you all.
On Monday 29 May, the school held a Mihi Whakatau to welcome new staff, children and families to our school community. A Mihi Whakatau is a formal welcome that is held off the marae. This was a larger group than in the past, and the welcome was well received by all families. We extend heartfelt thanks to Ryan McInnes and Lisa Prince for the mahi they put into working with our Kapa Haka group. It was such a beautiful celebration of our community, culture and the spirit of unity.
At the beginning of Term 4, will hold another Mihi Whakatau to welcome our new Principal Tom Wallis formally.
Our Year 5 - 8 students started their Winter Sports competition. For many students, this is the first time they have experienced inter-school competition, and they relish the opportunity. Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to coach and manage teams with Winter Sport. Our students would not be able to compete without your support, and we appreciate your commitment.
At school, we are making the most of the time we have left during this term, and there is a lot on the calendar to keep us all very busy. On Thursday 1 June our Year 8 students attended National Young Leaders Day. Every year in cities across the country, National Young Leaders Days are held to discuss topics relevant to the students and the positive influence each and every one of them can make within themselves and their community.
The Christ the King staff are currently trialling the way we report to parents. At the end of this term, we will report to parents about their child’s progress via our HERO platform. The Senior Leadership team would like to invite our school community to an information evening about how we report to parents. This event will be held on Tuesday 20 June from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm. We will explain what each Syndicate is doing and then we will ask for your feedback in Term 3. This date has been shared on the CTK Community Calendar. We look forward to seeing you all on the 20 June.
Our Family Mass for this term will be held on Sunday 11 June, at the 9.00am Christ the King Mass. The Mass is a time for the school and parish communities to come together to celebrate our faith. All students and their families are warmly encouraged to attend these Masses.
We hope you enjoy the long weekend with your family, and this fine weather continues.
Nga mihi
