A message from the Principal

Mike Bonisch —

Over the past month, Christ the King Board of Trustees has appointed two successful applicants to fill the vacancies we had in our school.

Mary Tod was successful in her application for the permanent-tagged position, which had formerly been a long term relieving job. The second position sees Monica Whitham move from the Junior to the Middle School to fill the opening Olivia Gill has created with her year's leave to travel overseas, and Robyn Williams (currently teaching at Russley School) joins our staff to fill the Junior vacancy. It is indeed a pleasure to welcome Mary permanently, and Robyn in a long term relieving capacity. I’m sure our Christ the King School community will make them feel most welcome in their new roles.

Other staffing arrangements for 2018 see Shireen Myers and Pip Anderson undertake a job share position in Room 5 for the year, with Shireen teaching 3 days and Pip teaching the other two. It is a pleasure to announce that we have retained the services of Stephanie Davis in Room 4 in her current roll growth position.

At last months meeting, the Board of Trustees had to formerly close the roll for 2018, with our current projected roll filled to capacity. This means that all prospective enrolments, both preference and non-preference, will now have to go on a waiting list.

Thanks for your attendance and support of our Athletics Day. All events attracted large fields, with the winning ribbons being hotly contested. A special thanks to the parents who helped marshal the various events and to Miss Gill for her excellent organisational skills. We look forward to a strong team representing us at the Central Athletics.

Congratulations to our A Water Polo team who won the Canterbury Primary Schools Year 7 & 8 B Grade Water Polo competition last weekend. The team was undefeated throughout the 2 days of competition.

Thanks to Mrs Kearns and our super choir for their contribution at the Christchurch Primary Schools Music Festival last night. The theme of weather meant we were entertained with a fantastic range of songs and items from some very accomplished singers and musicians. It really is a wonderful showcase of talent in Christchurch.

Please remember to support the Senior School Mass this weekend. It is a vital part of the forming faith component we talked about earlier in the year.
