A message from the Principal

Mike Bonisch —

As Term 3 draws to a close, we reflect on what has been a really hectic term with many different school events taking place that have required your assistance or attendance.

The latest of these has been the Keeping Ourselves Safe parent meeting hosted by Senior Constable Richard Brunton of the New Zealand Police on Tuesday afternoon. This meeting clarified the programme's objectives and content. Parents were able to raise any concerns or questions, and were informed how the programme will be delivered. If you requested the information from the meeting, please collect this from the office by tomorrow.

The postponement of the Year 7/8 ski trip/farm visit was very much a blessing in disguise, with the weather being absolutely fantastic on the alternative day. The only thing that eclipsed the weather was the children’s participation and attitude. It was a pleasure to see student’s at both venues fully engaged with the outdoor activities and pushing themselves in this new environment. Skiing or drenching sheep for the first time are memorable experiences and provide our children with some challenges and laughter along the way.

There were some equally excited Middle School students yesterday as the Year 5 and 6 children boarded their buses to Living Springs for the next three days. A good number of students are experiencing living away from home for the first time which will present them with its own set of challenges. EOTC sets out to provide our students with challenges, and it is the student’s reaction to the challenges that determines the outcome.

All the activities mentioned above require either your help or attendance and we thank you for taking the time to support what is happening in our school. Thanks also for your support of the Middle School Mass on Sunday.

Have a wonderful break with your family over the next fortnight and we look forward to seeing you next term.
