Lit Quiz Recount
On the 11th November 2020, four teams from our school, Christ the King, competed in the Catholic School Lit Quiz. There were two Senior School teams and two Middle School teams. All the contestants had to read certain books for the quiz. These books were; Can You See Me?, Rooftoppers, Lizard’s Tale, Taking the lead, Little women, and Speed King. There were also rounds on nursery rhymes, books to movies, Religious Education, General Knowledge and there was a visual round as well. All teams have worked really hard this term to read all these books and study in preparation for the quiz.
The lit quiz took part in the Saint Francis of Assisi school hall. The hall had small cubes that each team could lean on and there was a big screen where we could see the questions. The Ponderous Puzzle was a question, you would be given clues along the way to solve it. The answer was Rome. There would be ten question quizzes on each book or subject, and the more you got right, the more points you earned. Every now and then you would have a break. Near the end of the quiz, the people running it called out that the Year 5 and 6 teams were tied. It was between the CTK Literally Literacy and the CTK Book Warriors. To break the tie, there was a question. The question was: how many eyes does a bee have? The answer was 5. Literally Literacy guessed the closest meaning they had won, the Book Warriors came second and the Senior School teams didn’t place but still did well.
Overall, we had a really fun time and would recommend the competition to anyone who enjoys reading.
