Message from our Acting Principals

Jared Hopkins & Sue Spiers —

Kia ora koutou, nei ra te mihi, maioha ki a koutou katoa. Hello everyone, special greetings to you all.

Congratulations to all the students who performed at the Cultural Festival last Friday. This was the second time we have had a Kāhui Ako Cultural Festival, and it was wonderful to see our students showcasing their talents and different cultures in our school community. Well done to all the students, teachers and tutors that were involved.

There is an old saying that no news is good news! The Middle School Camp has struck some decent weather, and the students and adults are having a blast. We thank the parents and teachers who have given up their time to make this camp happen. The students will be full of stories and experiences shared. It is so important for our students to make the most of the opportunities provided at CTK.

Hot off the press are the results from the Bishopdale-Rotary Speech Semi-Finals. Our students have exceeded expectations and many have qualified for the final stage of this competition. Congratulations to:

  • Luke Coyle Year 8
  • Abi Flemmer Year 7
  • Poppy Washington Year 6
  • Ryan McNabb Year 5
  • Joseph Lyon Year 5
  • Mila Saili Year 4
  • Frankie Sillifant Year 4

These children will compete at the Bishopdale-Rotary Speech Final on Wednesday 18 October at Breens Intermediate.

We would also like to acknowledge the following students who made it as far as the semi-finals:

  • Leone Wilson
  • Alexa Lyon
  • Isla McInnes
  • Benjamin Thwaites
  • Keshali Maddumarachchi

We are looking forward to welcoming Mr Tom Wallis as our new Principal in Term 4. A Mihi-Whakatau will be held for Tom on Monday 9 October at 2.00pm where our school community is invited to join us.

Jared and I would like to sincerely thank Rebecca Methven and the Christ the King School Board, our teaching colleagues, support staff and school community for supporting us in our roles as joint Acting Principals for Terms 2 and 3.

Mehemea ka moemoeā tātou,

If we dream together, we all will achieve”

On behalf of the Christ the King Staff we hope you enjoy some relaxing family time over the next two weeks.
