School Cross Country

It was a damp, dark and rainy Monday afternoon in Christchurch but this didn’t stop the CTK Year 4-8 students running the 2017 School Cross Country race. At 11am the Year 8 PAL’s Leaders walked down in the threatening conditions to Jellie Park to set up the track in preparation for the all important race. Because of the wet, cold and definitely not ideal conditions Miss Gill had decided that the best idea would be to bring the students down in their age groups, then after they had finished their race they could put their jackets back on, have a drink, watch the next race and walk back to school. The first race of a great day was the Year 4 boys, followed by the Year 4 girls. The day ended with the Year 8 students racing in what would be their last CTK Cross Country.

Even though the weather didn’t play its part the 2017 Christ the King School Cross Country was a great day. I think it is fair to say that almost everyone enjoyed themselves and achieved their personal goals that they had set. Thank you to Miss Gill for organising this awesome school sporting event that ran without a hitch even in the poor conditions.

Below are the students who finished in the top 6 in their races. If these students are in year 5 or above they will now represent the school at the NW Zone Cross Country Competition in Term 2.
