Beautiful Morning  by Mike Bonisch

A message from the Principal

Congratulations to our 36 First Communicants who received the Eucharist for the first time at last Sunday's 11.00am Mass.

The children were obviously very proud of their preparation efforts and had a thorough understanding of how important this day was to them as Catholics.

Thank you to the parents of these children for your time and commitment in preparing the children in conjunction with Olivia Frahm. This Sacramental programme is a perfect example of how the home, school and parish partnership is vital for our Special Character to flourish. A number of older parishioners gave positive feedback about the children’s exemplary behaviour and their mature contributions to the Mass.

While offering congratulations around our Special Character, we would like to mention our Special Character leaders Marie Chan Foung, Flynn Everest, Matthew Mercer, Emily Methven, Maisy Perriam and Abby Shallcrass who were presented with their Young Vinnies badges at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral during the Commissioning Mass on Sunday the 11 June. These students are great role models for the St Vincent de Paul Society in our school.

As part of the reporting to parents process, individual reports are due home today, and Student-Led Conferences will be held next week. These interim reports are designed to give you an indication of the progress your child is making in regard to National Standards. Please read this report and keep its contents in mind as you participate in the Student-Led Conference next week with your child.

Our big cross country team performed well at the the Central Championships yesterday. It was the biggest team we have sent to the Centrals in recent years, and this is a direct result of the early morning training they have been undertaking with Ryan, Kieran and Catherine. Thanks especially to all those parents who helped with transport and supervision.

You may have noticed one of two basketball backboards being used on the artificial turf over the last week. These backboards were purchased by the Parent Council as a result of funds raised from recent activities such as the disco, marathon support and sausage sizzle. The children are over the moon with the new purchase and are already making good use of the equipment. The second backboard should be up and running next week. Thanks for your support of these Parent Council events, they’re providing a service for the children as well as raising funds for our school.

Don't forget Senior School Mass this Sunday.
