A message from the Principal
Olivia Frahm our Sacramental Programme Co-ordinator held the two Parent Information meetings yesterday and final enrolments close Thursday 2 March.
After their baptism the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion
are the next steps taken by young people in our community as they
enter more fully into the life of the Catholic Church. If your child is
in Year 4 and above, and you would like to register for these
Sacramental programmes, please contact Olivia in the Parish Office or
come and see me so I can introduce you to Olivia.
Next Wednesday, 1 March, Netsafe will be working in our school with staff, furthering our professional learning with digital citizenship. Netsafe is an internationally renowned, independent not for profit organisation, with an unrelenting focus on online safety practice. They were founded in 1998 with the lofty goal to help New Zealand internet users stay safe online.
As part of their home-school-community approach, we are holding a parent
evening next Wednesday evening at 7pm to look at the ways schools and
communities can promote digital citizenship, including online safety and
well-being with our children. Netsafe are regarded as experts in this
field and this meeting will last no longer than one hour.
Over the last two terms we have had a couple of road accidents involving
our students on the way to school, when crossing the road and negating a
household driveway. Although neither student was hospitalized, one
incident did result in reasonably serious injuries. Please reiterate to
your child road safety practices as they travel to and from school. We
are situated near a very busy intersection, across the road from the
second biggest school in New Zealand. Keeping our children safe is our
number one priority.
Thanks for your help with Junior School swimming. Taking 5 classes there
and back is a big job, and your assistance has made it so much easier.
Also, thanks for your help with the triathlon, the children’s efforts
were impressive and once again Miss Gill’s organisation was first rate.
