St Bede’s College, founded in 1911, is a proud, traditional Catholic secondary school for boys. It offers a broad-based education with strong emphasis on values, and the holistic development of its students. St Bede’s is well-respected for its academic and sporting success. It is set in 22 hectares of park-like grounds, one of the largest grounds of any Christchurch school. The College’s aim is to have each boy live by “Faith and Work”.

St Bede’s College has a strong academic record demonstrated by the performance of its top students in the last two years. St Bede’s students consistently perform above the national average for all levels of NCEA, and our top students have won a number of prestigious scholarships from universities.
St Bede’s College students have achieved success in a wide range of sports, including athletics, golf and basketball. 81% of students participate in organised sport. St Bede’s College has a strong rugby record. The 1st XV was the top rugby school in Christchurch in 2015.In Athletics, St Bede’s has been the top team in Canterbury for the last five years.
Our Old Boys include a Prime Minister of Tonga, a President of Kiribati, 6 Members of the current New Zealand Parliament, Catholic Bishops, national level sportsmen and coaches, media personalities and musicians.
