Top four lunch destinations in the central city

Charlotte Searle —

As Christchurch continues to rebuild, new quirky bars and restaurants have popped up around the city. Here we look at the top 4 lunch destinations all within a 5 minute walk from one another.

1. Bacon Brothers | 181 High Street

Bacon Brothers opened in the Little High Eatery  May 22nd 2017 after years of successful business running the Bacon Brothers stall at The Riccarton Bush Christchurch Farmers market, (which they continue to run each weekend). People have been raving about the top quality service and food they deliver, and the unique specials they offer like, 'Tinder Tuesdays' where you get 2 burgers for $20 if you're dining with a mate or a date! And $1 off burgers if you're a redhead! This is an awesome place to visit for lunch or any time of the day for that matter.. rated number 1 from Tripadvisior as the place to go for lunch right in the heart of Christchurch city. Open from 6am till late.

Follow them on Facebook for more specials as they come: https://www.facebook.com/Baconbrothersnz/

2. Orleans | 89 Lichfield Street

Orleans is one of the popular three restaurants/bars that are part of Strangers Lane and opened in 2014. Orleans, Strange and Co and Lower 9th Diner are all tucked closely together around a central outdoor courtyard space. Orleans celebrates the culture of New Orleans and features old style American food like fried chicken waffles, curly fries, prawn stuffed flat fish and signature bbq ribs. Watch out for Wednesdays at Orleans where they offer fried chicken waffles and a milkshake for $12! This is a great place to visit if you want to sit back and relax with cool vibes and take in the New Orleans culture. Open for lunch from 11am - till late .

3. ArboCafe | 265 High Street

You may be wondering where the name Arbo comes from? Well, it takes it's name from the six metre tree situated in the middle of the ANZ centre, where people can sit, relax and enjoy the light atmosphere of the atriums as the sun shines through. The café  menu has an all day breakfast and lunch options, and features local and seasonal foods. Large cabinets also offer daily salads, sandwiches,  pastries and the best custard squares in town. This place is a perfect little spot to sit down for lunch after shopping your heart out or exploring around the city centre. Open 8am-3pm.
