EKTA: Impact and outcomes
Just received: EKTA's Activity Report April – December 2025
The family: the building block around which a village, community, society and a nation is either robust or fragile. And its leadership under one or other parent - or both - decides it all. So, last year EKTA gathered 600 women in 20 villages in India's Madurai and Killai regions and asked them "“Who excels in family management?”. As I report this, I feel that question should come with a warning not to try this at home!
But EKTA had the courage to do so as they bring interventions focused on strengthening women’s leadership, promoting women’s rights, and addressing harmful masculinities that hinder gender equality. And all of that has had a massive positive flow on effect.

Communities Growing in Confidence and Leadership
Thanks to your support, women, young people, and families in Madurai and Killai are stepping into new roles as leaders and advocates for their communities. EKTA’s work—supported by Christian World Service donors—is creating practical, lasting change.
Women are now speaking up in Gram Sabha meetings, submitting petitions, and even preparing to stand for local elections. Their growing confidence is strengthening local democracy and ensuring community needs are heard.
Families are accessing services that were long out of reach. This year, people received disability identity cards, families previously without housing secured housing approvals, sanitation workers accessed welfare schemes, and women farmers gained the documents and loans they need to sustain their livelihoods.
Young people are emerging as strong voices for change—preventing child marriages, improving school safety, and learning essential life skills. More than 700 students built confidence, digital safety awareness, and financial literacy, with many opening their first savings accounts.
Women and youth are also leading climate action, becoming “Green Champions” and promoting sustainable practices in their villages. Safety audits in major bus stands have prompted improvements in lighting, sanitation, and accessibility.
Your generosity is helping build communities that are more informed, more confident, and more capable of shaping their own futures. Thank you for standing with them.
