Update from the Board of Trustees

Ngaire Shepherd-Wills —

Tēnā koutou ngā whānau o Te kura o Mārama,

It’s hard to believe that Term 1 is almost over. We would like to thank all the students, staff and whānau of Clearview Primary for the amazing start to the new school year.

The Board of Trustees has met twice this term. A key action for us was the submission of the school’s charter to the Ministry of Education. We are really excited about the vision for our children’s education at Clearview for the next four years and would again like to thank everyone who contributed their ideas. Much of the content has been developed in response to feedback and we appreciate all the work that Rob Rush and the leadership team put into creating this document. It has now been added to our school website and it can be found by clicking here:  http://www.clearview.school.nz/our-school/2017-charter/   We hope that you can take the time to look over it.

It has been great to see the next phase of the traffic management plan in action. Particularly in this wet weather it is making a safer school for all.

In property news, there is a lot happening in the background at the moment as we near the start and completion of a range of capital works projects across the school.

Firstly, the new sports shed/changing rooms facility is taking shape and it will be a fantastic addition to our school. Rain has slowed progress somewhat, but it is hoped to be finished by the start of term 2.   Construction of the senior playground is set to start at the beginning of these holidays and it will be situated adjacent to the new changing rooms block, along the south fence line of the sports field.

We also have construction of shade and shelter structures due to start soon too. On top of all of this, there is a range of minor property works yet to start as well, such as:

  • Improved external lighting to the carpark and around the school
  • A fence will be installed along the new sports field extension on Broadlands Drive
  • New double glazing of windows to the prefab rooms of Quest Team
  • Repairs to the external blackboard and installation of a new hard surface outside Quest prefabs

The Ministry of Education and their team of contractors and architects have been excellent to work with and we know our school buildings and grounds will be even more amazing after these projects have been completed. Watch this space.

The Board would like to wish everyone a safe Easter Break and school holidays.

I te wairua o mahi ngātahi - in the spirit of working together

Nāku noa,
