Message from the Principal
Kia ora Parents / Caregivers / Whanau
Our school continues to be a hive of activity. There has been so much going on over the past couple of weeks that even I have been working hard to keep on top of everything. Last week ended on a high with "Nora's Army Fun Day" during the day and auction at night. It was a colossal effort by so many people to plan and deliver such a successful fundraising venture, especially given the short timeframe. I simply couldn't be prouder of our school and what we can achieve collectively!
On Saturday of last weekend, we had three Jump Jam teams compete at the South Island Regional Jump Jam Final at CBHS and all three teams made it onto the podium. Congratulations to our Year 5/6 Team who were placed 3rd, the Year 7/8 Team who achieved 2nd place and our Year 2-4 Team who placed 1st in their category. Amazing results all-round, bravo!
These Jump Jam teams have been practicing for many months and the quality of their performance showed it. They were energetic, athletic and their costumes looked fantastic too. Well done to the children and also their coaches (Teachers): Serena Holm, Tania Toohey, Rebekah Smith, Bekee Varcoe, and Amy McDermott. These teachers gave up a lot of their own time to coach and manage their respective teams - thank you very much to them!
Earlier this week, on Tuesday evening our Junior Choir joined a large group of other school choirs from Christchurch at the Kids for Kids Concert at Horncastle Arena. It was a fantastic night of entertainment that was enjoyed by a large crowd. Our Junior Choir performed beautifully all night and made us very proud.
Tomorrow, we have a large team of young athletes competing in the Selwyn Athletics Champs at the Nga Puna Wai athletics track. We also have our senior Choir performing at the Christchurch School's Music Festival at the Town Hall tomorrow evening. I wish them all the very best of luck.
Finally, on a different note, please remember that on Monday 18th November, school will be closed for a Teacher Only Day. Our teaching staff will be meeting to plan for 2020. Alternative arrangements will need to be made for the care of your child/ren on this day.
Nga mihi nui
