Tāiri Team's trip to The International Antarctic Centre
Tāiri Team had a fantastic experience at the Antarctic Centre - our first school trip since early 2020!
As part of our ‘Change’ learning this term, we are learning about Antarctica. To support our learning, we visited the Antarctic Centre to see how animals and people adapt to harsh environments and what technology is used there.
We explored how transport has been transformed for use on this remote continent - aeroplanes, ice-breaker ships, hagglund transport and the adapted tractors Sir Edmund Hillary used. We also got to meet huskies, watch the penguins being fed and explore the display that showed how things have changed in Antarctica over the years.
We also learned about how Antarctica is used for two things - Science and Peace.
Enjoy a selection of photos from our trip.
