Matariki and Scratch Jr

As part of the reading programme in HB11, students have been learning about Matariki and the significance of the different stars. We have been learning how to use the app Scratch Jr to share our new knowledge.

The students have worked collaboratively to create a 4 slide presentation. They have built their coding skills by animating the stars in the sky, creating automatic timings, touch buttons for information and adding recorded messages.

Active on iPads

During our day we use our iPads for learning across all curriculum areas. We use the app Mathletics to reinforce our learning in class, along with StepsWeb to support our reading and spelling. We can use a headphone splitter so a group of students can listen to stories together during reading time.
