Rob Rush —

Kia ora e te whanau,

One Year Since Alert Level Four!

We are about to finish Week 8 which is hard to believe!  It was Week 8 of Term 1 last year when things changed rapidly and we went into Level 4 lockdown causing much disruption for many weeks  One year on and we remain vigilant against the virus, although it's so refreshing to be open for instruction with school life continuing as normal.  On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of joining our triathlon team at the Canterbury Triathlon in North Canterbury and with over 700 young athletes, plus hundreds of parents, teaching staff and supporters there, it reminded me just how fortunate we are to be able to hold these events.

Road Safety and Travel Management

You may have seen in our last newsletter that we were wanting to form a focus group to review our current travel management plan.  We have 3 main access points into Clearview Primary (Broadlands Drive, Cameron Crescent and Carrick Place) and each of these entry points present their own challenges in terms of managing traffic and potential hazards for our students so it's timely that we relook at how we can manage this.

We have formed a group that consists of myself, a Board member, SDC Road Safety Co-ordinator, 2 x parent reps and a police officer who will begin the process of reviewing our current travel management plan with the aim of making any relevant changes that will improve the safety of our school community.  We know that there are areas to improve but it will rely on a team effort to do so.  In the meantime, please re-familiarise yourself with the following map (produced by the SDC) indicating our road safety management:
