Ruby Pirika Wins the Michael Godfrey Motocross Race

Clearview Sports —

Clearview Primary's Ruby Pirika takes the win in a motocross event held recently.  Here is a race report from the event, read on to learn more....

Conditions were cold and wet for Queen's Birthday weekend which ideally suits Ruby Pirika, she loves the mud! Saturday was a mixed bag for Ruby with a couple of crashes but nothing major.

Ruby qualified with the boys to race the 34th Michael Godfrey Memorial MX 50cc race, 6 to 8 years old. It was such an exciting race and there were numerous people watching around various points of the track. The first few laps Ruby got herself into a good position of 4th. Then she started to pick them off one by one, and before we knew it she as in the lead and won it comfortably!

Ruby is the first female to ever win this trophy. The commentator was even emotional and said it was the highlight of his whole weekend her winning this event!

This was Ruby's last race on the 50cc and the mini track and now she heads to an even bigger geared bike 65cc, and onto the adults track.

All the best Ruby.
