Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone.

Kia ora taatau, naumai ki te panui kotahi rau, rima tekau mo Te Kura o Mārama.

This Clearview Primary newsletter is our 150th publication since opening in 2010 - how exciting!

Last night, we held the grand finale of 'Porridge' in front of another full capacity audience and what a truly wonderful show it was too.  As I'm sure you can imagine, a production of this scale involves a colossal amount of planning, organisation and rehearsal.  This started back in Term 1 with children auditioning for a part in the production, and it culminated into four unforgettable shows this week.

We certainly have some talented children here at Clearview who showcased their amazing acting and singing skills. It was obvious how much they had practiced their roles. What was also so evident was the enjoyment they got out of performing on stage. For many of our children, this was their first time acting in a production and didn't they do well?  I am full of admiration towards them all and immensely proud of what they achieved - well done!

It takes a team effort to lead a cast of 350 students and this team was led by Director Ms Tania Soal and Creative Directors Miss Anita Van Looy and Mrs Claire Dainter.  This production was an ambitious undertaking and thanks to Tania, Clare, Anita and their army of helpers it was a huge success.   Thank you to them and all of our teachers for making the production so enjoyable and entertaining.

On a side note, while Claire has been heavily involved with directing our production, she's also been planning for her own wedding at the same time.  She will be getting married to husband to be Gary this weekend and we wish them both a happy and joyous day of celebration.  No doubt, it will be a week to remember!

Continuing the topic of celebrating success, at tomorrow's assembly we have a very special presentation to make to three  Year 3 students in HB 9 - Hannah Nunez, Grace Downie and Ava Heath Williams.  These girls entered a "NZ Future Transport Competition" and they had to design a game that shared their ideas for future transport.  They won the "Best Game  Year 1-6" category for their Transport Hero Game and in doing so they earned themselves some gift vouchers as well as $2000 worth of vouchers for our school.  Congratulations Hannah, Grace and Ava - what a fantastic result!  To learn more about their game, click here

Also at tomorrow's assembly the Junior Kapa Haka group will perform 2 short items at the beginning of assembly. We would love to see you there!

Tomorrow our whole school are heading out into the Rolleston community to take part in "Keep NZ Beautiful Week".  As part of our topic of inquiry into sustainability, each team will be heading out to various parts of Rolleston to collect rubbish and to clean up the area.  This will be a great opportunity to contribute to our local community and make it a cleaner and tidier environment for all to enjoy.   It will be interesting to see just how much rubbish we will collectively collect during this event.  Thanks also to the PCG who will be providing all children and volunteers with a free sausage at the end of this event.

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a great weekend everyone.
