EPro8 Competition at Clearview

Tracey Young —

We have been very fortunate this week to host the Year 7/8 and Year 5/6 EPro8 competitions. All of our teams worked hard to complete the set challenges and a special congratulations to the Clearview Citizens who came 1st in Year 5/6 event!

The EPro8 Challenge is a competition, an engineering and problem-solving race. Teams compete to:

  • build large-sized structures
  • solve practical problems
  • engineer using pulleys, motors, gears, wheels and axles
  • invent machines that can complete simple tasks
  • undertake unusual and fun experiments.
  • construct basic electronic circuits.
  • solve interesting problems using practical maths

Each team of four is based at a workstation containing an impressive assortment of easy to use parts and equipment. The 3-hour event begins with a tutorial on the equipment teams will be using.

Teams are then given a booklet containing a number of challenges. All the challenges are of an entertaining physical nature.

Congratulations to the following students who have represented Clearview:

Year 7/8 Only One Thing Team: Michelle Yang, Ryan Fisher,  Sune Pubelo, and Lucca Greenwood

Year 7/8 Genius Giants Team:  Vali Oelofse, Sam McGregor, Max Molloy, and Max Chi

Year 5/6 Mega Minds: Isabel Hawes, Eviana Blair,  Alexander Stenhouse, and Jackson Black

Year 5/6 Clearview Citizens:  Daniel Drury, Ava Heath-Williams, Finn Tan and Jack Hocken

A huge thank you to all the parents, teachers and students who came along and showed their support.  We really appreciated it!
