Clearview Ski Club

Clearview —

Last Friday, 12 of our students headed up to Porters Ski Area to spend a day on the slopes.

Everyone had a ski or snowboard lesson and then put their new skills into practice.  Only the lower half the mountain was open as the winds were too strong to open the top T-bars but we all had a wonderful day riding the chairlift.

This was our one and only day up as our first day was cancelled due to weather and the ski field being closed.  We look forward to next year and hopefully get a few more days in.

Here are some of our students experiences:

From Griffin Roycroft:

Not many people like getting up early including me but on ski days I don't mind at all!

On Friday our school ski club headed to Porter Heights. We all met for instructions, tickets and headed to our lessons. After that we got to free ski. I like to ski and board so was fun doing both. The best part of our day was enjoying the mountain together, Mrs Whites fudge cake, snow ball fights on the slopes and making new friends. Sometimes the snow and weather conditions aren't perfect but with friends, family, mums bacon and egg pie and a positive mindset, it can be perfect!

From Camryn Lewes & Aidan Barker:

Last Friday some students from Clearview went up to Porter Heights for a ski trip. The day started out with a lesson so we split up into snowboarders and skiers and learned how to perfect our techniques. The instructors were friendly and encouraging which allowed us to learn quicker.

It was a great day with a little wind but the sun was out. After our lessons, we continued to ski or snowboard on the rest of the mountain but unfortunately only half of it was open because of the wind. Overall it was a great day and big thanks to the teachers and staff that organised it.
