World Vision Youth Conference

Clearview —

Kia ora whanau! A few weeks ago, four of us were lucky enough to attend the World Vision Youth Conference in Riccarton. It was such a fun and inspiring day where we learned many leadership skills! They taught us about the ‘Bystander Effect’ and how it stops people from acting on important issues. We had the opportunity to ask questions, interact with other leaders from schools around Canterbury and partake in some challenges that involved teamwork. There was an incredible, inspirational speaker. She spoke about her journey of standing up and making a difference in the world that she started when she was just 16 at school in Auckland. Now she has spoken at global climate events to world leaders!

We gained so much knowledge about the devastating issue of the lack of access to clean water in the world. This basic human need and right that so many don’t have. World Vision’s goal is to have every human in the world able to access clean water by 2030. That’s just 7 years away! We are very excited to be running the 40-hour challenge for our kura this year to help do our bit to make a positive difference in the world.

We are aiming to get as many students signed up as possible. Our goal is to raise $3000 as a school. You can make your challenge whatever you like. It could be 40 hours of no devices, biking 40km in 40 hours, or using no furniture for 40 hours. We hope to see you all taking part in the 40-hour Challenge this year. It doesn’t matter how much you can fundraise or donate…EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!

Here is the link to sign up and help support this amazing cause. Make sure to select Clearview Primary as your fundraising team so we can track how we are going.
