Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone.

School has been abuzz with activity lately and the atmosphere has continued to be such a positive one. Last week's 3-Way Conferences were a wonderful occasion to reconnect with parents and whanau and for the students to share their learning and achievements. Walking through homebases and across the school during these conferences was a genuine pleasure to see the partnerships so strong between HB teacher - student - parents. Thank you for attending these conferences, I hope and trust you found them to be informative.

Last Wednesday, we brought the school together to unveil our brand new mural. This incredible piece of artwork was an ambitious undertaking that took approximately 12 months to create. It was led by our super-talented HB1 teacher Mrs Adele Allport who worked with a group of students to design it. Once designed, more students were asked to make the design become a reality and the final result is simply breathtaking! Thank you to everyone involved in the mural, it will take pride of place at the main entrance to our school for many years to come.

It may be hard to believe, but planning for 2018 is now underway. We have begun by looking at our predicted numbers and examining the possibilities and practicalities of school organisation. I’m sure you can appreciate that this is a complex task.

We must take into consideration what our staffing allocation from the MOE will be (this will help determine how many home bases we will start with), then we look at the numbers associated with each year group before we start looking at the details of teacher allocation and class placements.

To this end, it would be greatly appreciated if you could advise the office if you are intending to move your child/ren away from Clearview Primary next year. If we can get an idea of the number of expected leavers, we can make provision for this and plan accordingly. So please email Penny admin@clearview.school.nz if this applies to you. This of course does not apply to our Year 8 leavers. Many thanks.

Finally, some staffing news; at the end of this term, our Finance Manager Susie Meares will be retiring.  We have just completed the process of appointing a new person to replace Susie and I'm thrilled to announce that Angela Chaplin will be our new Executive Officer.  Angela will commence her position towards the end of this term and will work alongside Susie to transition into her new role.  We look forward to having Angela on the team.

Also, at the end of this term, Mrs Bridget Roberts (HB 36) will be taking leave to have a baby.    In Bridget's place, we will welcome aboard Mrs Jo Silvey who will teach in HB36 alongside Mrs Clare Dainter and the students of HB 37.  Jo is well known to us all, and we are thrilled to have her on the teaching team.

Enjoy the rest of your week everyone.

Naku iti nei, na
