Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Welcome back to you all!

Kia ora everyone,

It's just magnificent to be back open and to see the children enter through the gates on Monday morning, full of energy, enthusiasm and optimism about the coming year.  A very warm welcome back and a special welcome to all new children, families and staff who have joined our Clearview whanau this year.  I hope you had some quality time off over the holiday season and you managed to find some fun and sun wherever you ventured.  My family and I spent some time down in Wanaka over the NY period and it was such a relaxing time together.  It's been fantastic to hear all the holiday stories from our staff and students as well.    After much time spent planning the year ahead and in meetings to discuss the finer details, it a pleasure to welcome back the children and to get up and running with daily instruction.

It was brilliant to see our 'Open Afternoon' well attended last Friday.  There was a positive tone around the school and we hope it was beneficial for you and your child.  We have started the year with 700 students across 30 HB's and it will be really interesting to see what happens to our school roll over the next 12 months as Rolleston continues to grow.  It's been a hot start to the year with temperatures much higher than normal, but by being a modern school, with double glazing and air-conditioning, we have been really lucky to have managed this heat by utilising our facilities - aren't we lucky!  We are a sunsmart school, so please ensure that your child has their sunhat each day.  We also have sunscreen available should the children need it.

This newsletter is a special "Welcome" edition, as we have so much to share with you.  We will be sending out another one next week, but in the meantime, enjoy this first edition for 2019 and mark down the upcoming events relevant to you and your children.

Nga mihi nui
