Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone

It's hard to believe that we only have three weeks left of the 2017 school year.  Teachers have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes, collating assessment information,  writing end of year reports and preparing for the end of the year.   I want to acknowledge and thank them for their extra time and work, especially during this busy time.

While teachers have been working hard organising everything for the end of this year, our Leadership Team have been busy planning for 2018.  A few weeks ago, I advised  how our school will be organised next year, specifically the year levels for each team.  Now that we have completed all appointments for 2018, I can confirm the HB/power Team teacher make-up for 2018.

As you can see, there are a number of changes afoot with some teachers changing levels as well as teams moving blocks.  We are also sad to see some well loved and respected teachers leave Clearview Primary.  Firstly, Mrs Adele Allport will be taking up a new position in the new entrants at Broadfields School from 2018 onwards.  Adele has taught at Clearview for 5.5 years.  Mr Ryan Burson has been away on leave this year and has subsequently resigned from his position to continue on with his educational role in Brunei.  Ryan has been a member for the Clearview staff since we opened in 2010.

A couple more changes for 2018:   We will be without Mrs Katrina Curtis who will be taking leave to have her first baby.  We wish her all the very best as she ventures into parenthood and hope to have her back at Clearview in the future.  Also, Mrs Mel Upperton will be reducing her hours for 2018 by providing part time teacher release.

Some good news is that we will be welcoming back Mrs Tracy Thompson who has been away on maternity leave this year.  Tracy will return in a job share arrangement with Mrs Sarah Gillon in Team Quest.  Sarah is a very familiar face to us and we look forward to welcoming her back to the team.

Understandably, our students and parents will be wanting to know which HB and Powerteam they will be placed into for next year.  Teachers are currently in the process of organising students into classes.  This does take significant time and thought but we are aiming to have this completed by the end of Week 8.  Students will then be informed of their 2018  HB/ Powerteam on Monday of Week 9 and they will have the opportunity to meet their new teacher and classmates that day in their new learning space.  Teachers will send an email home to advise parents that day too.

We are also excited to be holding an "Open Day' on Monday 29 January from 11:30am - 2:00pm where parents, students and families are invited to school to visit their new learning space to see their new HB Teacher and to take another look around their new space.  This will be an informal opportunity to drop in before school starts back with the aim of strengthening our partnerships between school- student - familly.  We will have the BBQ cooking and we're aiming to have our new cafe open for it's first day - fingers crossed!

Thanks everyone and enjoy the rest of your week.
