Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora e te whanau!

A very warm welcome back to another term - I hope you managed to have a safe and relaxing holiday break with your family.  It's wonderful to see everyone back, rearing to go.

I have mentioned before that our school roll is currently growing at an unprecedented rate this year and we are about to break some Clearview records.  We have begun Term 3 with 798 students and we have a large number of pre-enrolments scheduled to begin over the coming months.  This means we will exceed our largest ever school roll which was 807 in December of 2016.

We have a new class opening in week 3 for our new entrant students who will be taught by Mrs Rose Trolove and at the beginning of this week, HB15, a newly formed class of year 3/4 students has started with Mrs Tina Prince.  I'm really looking forward to tomorrow morning when we hold our mihi whakatau ceremony to welcome aboard all new staff, students and their family/whanau to Clearview Primary.

COLA Update

Over the holiday break, we have had a number or minor and major property projects get underway which will add value to our school.  The COLA canopy project has started with all footings now installed, ready for the steel framing to be erected.  Work has been temporarily halted while the steel is fabricated and shipped down from Auckland.  Work will re-start in mid-late August and will be completed in time for the Clearview Fete in September.

New Signage

We have also had some new artwork designed and installed as window decals into the main entrances of our buildings. The purpose of these decals is to bring our Cultural Narrative to life in a visible way.

Each team has its own unique name, logo and kowhaiwhai pattern. The design on the windows across the school is known as the Raranga Tahi design and it brings together all team designs into one universal (school-wide) kowhaiwhai. In other words, a small part of every team's kowhaiwhai is represented in the Raranga Tahi window decal.

This picture shows each Team's Kowhaiwhai design. The top one (in black) is Raranga Tahi, followed by Turama, Uranga, Tāiri, Tīramaroa and Matatea.

Barrier Arm

Another obvious addition to our school grounds is the installation of a new barrier arm, located at the main entrance into our carpark on Broadlands Drive.  This has been installed to improve health and safety and to support with managing vehicles entering, circulating through and parking in our staff carpark or disabled parking lots.  This barrier arm is set on a timer and will drop down during peak traffic and pedestrian times.  Remotes have been issued to authorised people which will enable access.

So, as you can see, a lot is happening across our school at the moment as we continue to grow and improve as a school community.

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a lovely weekend.
