Talk Together Social Skills Groups - now in Rolleston

Talk Together —

Does your child find it challenging to: make friends and keep them? Talk about their emotions? Pick up on social cues? or manage their anxiety?

The Programme:

Our groups focus on theory of mind development, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, communication skills, strategies for managing anxiety and emotional regulation while looking at how to form friendships and maintain them. All while having lots of fun!  At the end of each session, we meet with parents to discuss what we have worked on during the session and provide a "take home message" for families to work on during the week.

The Cost:

The first session for our groups is always free to ensure the groups are the right fit for children and families. Each session is then $25. We work hard to keep groups as accessible to families as possible, for two children from the same family sessions are $35.

How to register your child or to find out more: No specific referral form is needed, professionals and families can contact us by phone or email.  info@talktogether.co.nz or 027 3009368

Additional Information:

Each group is facilitated by a Speech Language Therapist (Megan) & a School Counsellor with a Masters in Educational Psychology (Katie).   We have both worked publicly within the health and education sectors. Talk Together Social Skills Groups were started due to our observations as clinicians of the number of students who needed support to develop their social skills and/or learn strategies for managing their anxieties.

We also provide 1:1 & small groups therapy in the areas of private pediatric speech-language therapy & counseling. These services also follow the same community-focused values.

Please note:  The younger group for Term 3 is currently full but we have a waitlist. When this gets to 5 families  we can start an additional group. Currently the wait list is at 3 so we are close! There are currently 5 spaces available in the 12-15 year old group. We will also be running groups again in Term 4 in Rolleston.
