Drama

By Ava and Tora

There are several drama options available for Years 2-7 students at Clearview Primary. One example is PLAY! By Nickie Hughes. She also does musical theatre. She has experience in England and recently featured in Beauty and the Beast production put on by centre stage Rolleston. There was also a Theatre Sports Club run by Miss Smart at lunchtimes.

Drama gives kids the opportunity to express their creative side and boosts their confidence. Drama gives you the chance to learn and socialise. You meet so many new people while doing drama. It certainly pays off.

Nickie is putting on a Christmas show called Merry Grinchmas which she wrote herself.  On Sunday the 8th of December, I (Tora) played a role in the Christmas showcase for PLAY workshops. It was a show based on the Grinch, a character you probably know. Written by Dr Seuss, it was a sequel of how the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Nickie has been acting since she was six, and she has been teaching for five years. She says she teaches drama to see children's confidence grow. Her favourite part of doing drama is being creative. She advertises her company every year, so make sure you give it a go!
