Clearview iNVENTIONATOR success

Tracey Young —

Last week six students from Year 6 took part in the 2020 iNVENTIONATOR programme run by CORE Education.

iNVENTIONATORs is a team-based challenge designed for students to co-create innovative solutions to real-life problems.

Before coming together as a collective group last week, the students had to submit a range of creative and innovative ideas that might be turned into a pitch.  Some of the ideas included a thermal blanket that can adjust to your body temperature and mood, a fetchbot that returns a ball if it goes over a fence, and a human car wash that could be used after you go swimming.

Our Clearview students collaboratively worked with others from around New Zealand to prepare and present a pitch about an idea of their choice.  Each group had support from a  mentor and the judging panel.

Congratulations to the following students who took part in this challenge and the semi-final results are listed below:

  • Grace Downie and Maddison Webb (in collaboration with students from Ashgrove School, Rangiora) - first in the rationale category for their thermal blanket idea
  • Daniel Drury, Aidan Delahunty, Luke Holcroft, and Jackson Black (in collaboration with D'Angelo M from Stanmore Bay School, Auckland) - first in the pitch delivery category for balls over the fence idea

Daniel, Aidan, Luke, and Jackson came first in the finals for the excellent description of their pitch. Whakamiharo ana! Superb effort team!
