‘’Think like citizens of the future, today. Investigate challenges and opportunities. Imagine solutions and question systems. Share your ideas for the future of transport.’’ - NZTA

HB 9 —

Ava Heath Williams, Grace Downie and Hannah Nunez of Homebase 9 decided to take on the above challenge. The three girls, researched, raised questions, explored possibilities and then turned their ideas into a playable game by coding on Scratch. They then shared their findings and game with their team, teaching their peers in an interactive way about the NZ transport system and what this might look like in the future.

The year 3 girls ended up being incredibly successful. They won the 'Best Game Years 1-6' for their entry ‘Transport Hero’ across the whole of NZ, coming away with an impressive amount of Noel Leeming vouchers for both themselves and the school. You will find their winning entry on this link:

What an awesome collaborative effort girls!

Excellent work, team! You’ve made a digital game which puts transport and sustainability factors into the gameplay. The game has a simple concept and is really well-made. It’s fast-paced and really is heaps of fun to play. Good description of your research.

We really like how much you shared the game with your schoolmates. It is awesome to see people playing the game and enjoying it.
