Moreton Bay Symphony Orchestra Visits Clearview Primary

Clearview Arts Team —

On Tuesday 27th June, we were excited to welcome the Moreton Bay Symphony Orchestra to Clearview Primary.

As the name suggests, the orchestra hails from Queensland, Australia and we were very fortunate to get to see them in concert for free, because two of our students have an aunt who plays in the orchestra.

The students were entertained by a lively repertoire of songs that appealed to young and old. Some of the music played was familiar, such as the Star Wars theme and "Jupiter" from the orchestral suite, "The Planets," part of which contains the theme music played for the Rugby World Cup. The final piece was a lovely medley with an Australian theme - many children recognised "Waltzing Matilda" within the medley. The concert was also an opportunity for our students to learn more about the different sections of the orchestra and learn the names of several instruments including some of the less familiar ones such as the cor anglais.

We offer our grateful thanks to the Moreton Bay Symphony Orchestra for their time and enthusiasm, and hope that this has inspired some of our children to take up learning a musical instrument!
