Update for the PCG

Clearview —

The Clearview Parent Committee group (PCG) started the year with just eight members, we held nine meetings during 2020 including a couple of virtual meetings during lock down, and we have continued to have remote access as an option for members who are not able to attend the meetings in person.

The PCG ran 12 fundraisers this year including 2nd hand uniform sales each term, and a delayed junior and senior discos – this meant that our students were able to celebrate after a difficult year and socialise together bringing a bit of normality back into their lives. We tried some different fundraisers such as bacon butties for lunches and cheese rolls at the Rolleston fireworks, which was kindly sponsored and supported by Property Brokers, and this also meant parents and members of the PCG could enjoy the fireworks with their families. There were also other online (Kindo) fundraisers that also bought money in to the school.

By far our biggest fundraiser this year was the Christmas raffle and we would like to thank all the families who were able to donate and sell tickets, we were able to make up 41 great prizes hampers, which were very well received by the winners including a prize for the family who sold the most tickets. Earlier in the year we ran the Easter raffle which was unfortunately disrupted by lock down, but also still did well.

The PCG raised a total of $15,900, and also gained sponsorship of $1,000 from Orion NZ Ltd.

Because of the efforts of the PCG and the school community we were able to support the school in many different ways, from playground equipment to sports and hip-hop uniforms, classroom equipment, travel subsidy, a roller door for the caretaker, special Year 8 leaver hoodies and a BBQ trailer – a total of $18,760!

Sadly, the Clearview Fete was not able to go ahead this year but plans have started for another amazing fete in Sept-2021

We would like to say a big thank you to Property Brokers and Orion for their contributions to the school as well as the school community for supporting the fundraisers and especially to the members of the PCG for the time that goes into organising these great events.

We would also like to thank Tina Prince for representing the teachers and bringing their wishes and letters of appreciation along to the meetings.

It’s great to have a few new faces that have joined the committee during the year, bringing great ideas and enthusiasm, we are looking forward to another exciting year and the challenges it will bring in 2021.
