Netsafe Week

Katie Morriss —

This week is Netsafe Week. The internet has played a big part in keeping people connected over the past year – and that trend isn’t slowing down anytime soon – which makes it important that every person knows how to stay safe online.

We can never place enough importance on parents knowing what their children are doing on devices and the internet and who they are talking to.

Here at Clearview, we regularly talk about staying safe online and making sure our interactions online are appropriate and positive. Children need regular reminders about rules and what to do if they see something online that isn't appropriate.

On Tuesday 7th September, our Kāhui Ako is hosting a Parent Cybersafety Evening with Netsafe. This is a great opportunity to hear from the experts on how to monitor your whānau's internet use and tips and tricks to keep your whānau safe. More details to come later this term.

In the meantime, here is Netsafe's Online Safety Parent Toolkit for you to look through if you wish. Netsafe also have an informative website www.netsafe.org.nz
