Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone!

Yesterday's Celebration of Learning event was a wonderful way to end a productive term by sharing the deep learning experiences across our school and wow, what a turn out of parents!

Visiting the homebases and listening/observing the children articulate what they have been inquiring into over the past term was a real pleasure and it made me so proud.  There was a huge variety of learning on display which was really interesting and entertaining to see.   It was evident how much they have engaged in their topics of inquiry and I commend them on everything they have achieved throughout Term 2.   Thank you very much to all the parents who were able to make it along.

Celebrating the achievements of our clever children doesn't stop with this event, in fact, we have had many of our students enter various competitions with some outstanding results.  Recently, we have had successes with:

  • Football - Year 5/6 and Yr 7/8 teams won the zone tournament and they progress through to the Canterbury Competition
  • Hockey - Year 5/6 and Yr 7/8 teams won the zone tournament and they progress through to the Canterbury Competition
  • Cross Country - We had 14 athletes compete at the Canterbury Champs and with some fantastic results.
  • EPro8 Challenge - Our Yr 5/6 team made the Canterbury Region Grand Final for a collaborative engineering challenge and they placed 10th overall.

We end the term on a high note and with that, I want to acknowledge you for your ongoing support of our wonderful school and wish you a relaxing holiday break with your children and whanau.  We will be rearing to go again on Monday 23 July when Term 3 begins.

Take care and enjoy the rest of your week.
