Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora, talofa lava, greetings everyone.

Welcome back to another term!  We've had such a positive start  with children returning to their homebases ready and eager see their teachers, friends and to get back into their routine.  This term, we have started another class with Homebase 3 opening it's doors to a small group of students who have recently turned 5 years old.  I extend a very warm welcome to these students and all of our new students and families to Clearview Primary - great to have you all with us.

Senior Production

Towards the end of Term 3 we have a very exciting school production planned.  This involves many of our Year 5-8 students who have been working really hard during rehearsals and at home, practicing their lines and getting into character.  The production is called "Porridge" and it will be sure to entertain both young and old.  Dates and times for the production have been confirmed for Week 8:

Tuesday 12 September – 1.20pm and 7.00pm
HB’s 25, 27, 28, 31, 32, 35 and 37 will be performing

Wednesday 13 September – 1.20pm and 7.00pm
HB’s Spark Y5, 24, 26, 29, 30, 34, 36 will be performing

Porridge will be staged at the Rolleston College Theatre and tickets will be available closer to the time so watch this space.

Staffing News

With the opening of our newest classroom in the Discover Team this term, we have welcomed Mrs Deana Ilton into HB 6.  Deana is familiar to us all, having worked here part time for a few years so it's great to have her on the team in a full time capacity.

More good news, we have made an appointment of a teacher who will start in HB25 towards the end of this term.  Miss Samantha Ryan will join the Challenge Team at the beginning of Week 8 this term.  She is currently in the UK and will be returning from her OE where she has been travelling and teaching in London.

Finally, at the end of this term we will bid farewell to Mrs Susie Meares, our Finance Manager.  After a long and varied working career, Susie will be retiring to enjoy some well deserved time to pursue other interests and hobbies.

Winter Sports

Yesterday, we had a large team of Year 5-8 students compete at the Zone Rugby and Netball Tournaments here in Rolleston.  Congratulations to all of our children who gave their greatest efforts throughout the day and showed amazing sportsmanship.  Despite the wet and cold conditions, the children played hard and fair and represented our school with pride.  Our Year 5/6 A and Year 7/8 A Netball Teams won their competition convincingly and now progress onto the Canterbury Primary Schools Netball Tournament.  I wish them well for that - super work girls!  The rugby teams each had a few amazing wins and were a credit to the school.

Enjoy the rest of your week everyone.

Naku iti nei, na
