Jump Jam @ Clearview

This year we had 3 amazing jump jam teams at the following levels:

  • Year 7/8 team coached by Miss McDermott
  • Year 5/6 coached by Mrs. Varcoe and Miss Smith
  • Year 3/4 coached by Mrs. Holm and Mrs. Toohey

The year started off with team selection day, this day was very exciting and full of intense pressure.   It was where the students who wanted to take part for 2019, all danced to fun different jump jam dances and one by one they were directed into different areas in the hall. Then after everyone danced for an hour and a half they were separated into two groups.  The kids that made it into the team got notices and the ones who didn’t were sadly let go.  It was very hard for the Jump Jam choreographers to choose the teams, they had to make the right decisions.

In term one teams picked what dance the groups were going to do, term two they started adding changes and perfecting them as well as lots of practice! Term three was when teams had to video themselves doing their dance and it was sent away to the judges. Waiting for a reply to see if the teams got into the performance was very nerve-racking!  Luckily all teams got into the final South Island performance!

The year 3/4 team got in, the 7/8 team got in and the year 5/6 got into the extreme category which is the top! These kids (and coaches) were very happy and pleased they all got placings!

All of the teams competed on the 3rd of November and here’s how they did it!

  •  Year 3/4 got 1st place
  •  Year 5/6 got 3rd place
  • Year 7/8 got 2nd place

Congratulations to all those who took part and a huge thank you to the teachers and parents that supported each team!
