Message from the Principal

Rob Rush —

Kia ora e te whanau!

Nau mai, hoki mai - welcome back to another term.  It was wonderful seeing everyone return to school last week after the term break.  It's been such a smooth and enjoyable couple of weeks so far, our students have settled back into the school routine really well.

Yesterday, we farewelled the first half of Team Tairi (Yr 5/6) who embarked in their camp to Living Springs.  Despite the turn in weather, they happily exited the school grounds, excited about the next few days.  Next week, HB 34-37 will be heading there as well.  I wish them all a safe and enjoyable camp experience.

Last week, we welcome aboard Mr Dion Stechmann who joined our leadership team as our new Associate Principal.  It's so good to have someone of Dion's high calibre and I look forward to working with him into the future.  We have also welcomed back Mrs Chris Quinn who is teaching alongside Susan Tansey in HB10.  Chris is very familiar to us, having worked part time at Clearview since we opened in 2010.  It's marvellous to have her on our team and I'm sure the students in HB10 will appreciate having her teach them for the rest of the year.

Now that the days are becoming much colder and darker, it's a good time to ask you all to be extra cautious and vigilant when dropping off or collecting your children from school.  We have noticed an increase in traffic, especially down Broadlands Drive and this is exacerbated on rainy days.

Please keep your speed down, utilise the kiss and drop zones,  as well as the kea crossing.  Do not enter our school staff carpark unless authorised to do so (eg for disabled parking).  We are seeing parents performing u-turns on the bend of Broadlands Drive and even parking on yellow lines.  Let's all do our part to keep everyone safe.

Your co-operation with this is really appreciated, thank you.  On a side note, Waka Kotahi NZTA are currently carrying out a consultation about speed limits and in particular, around schools. This is an opportunity to have your voice heard. The consultation closes 25 June.  Here is the link to learn more and have your say:

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a lovely weekend.
