Clearview —

Huge congratulations to our Year 5 & 6 rugby team representing Clearview at the Canterbury Schools Rugby Fun Day at Burnside Park last Friday 3 May. They played with pride and showed outstanding sportsmanship. Photo credit to Tammy Maxwell for the stunning photos. Read on to hear how each team got on.

Year 6 Rugby Team

On Friday the 3rd of May the Year 6 rugby fun day team played at Burnside Park, organised by the Cantabrians rugby club. We played three games and we headed off to a good start with a score of 25-5 to Clearview. Then in the second game, we lost 25-10 against Kirwee. Then the last game we just got the win by 1 try (6-5). Thanks to Mr Rush and Miss Marshall and all the parents that took us there and back, and for staying to support us.

Year 5 Rugby Team

On Friday the first week of term 2, the Year 5/6 spent the whole day at Burnside Park. Some of us had never played rugby before. There where 20-minute games and three of them. There were 10 of us so we had no subs so if one of us got hurt we had no subs but we managed. The Year 5’s won all three games it was pretty close though.

On the first Friday of Term 2 we went in the car to Burnside Park to spend the whole day there. Year 5 and Year 6 went to play rugby. Most of us have played rugby before, one person plays football, one plays hockey. Everyone was excited and I was really excited. It was 10 a side but we didn’t have enough, we only had 9 players. We borrowed a Year 6 boy to help us for the day. We played our first game it was cool because it was our first game and we won. We also won our 2nd game and our third game. I think our third game was our hardest game because they had a lot of girls in the team and they were tall and fended us in the face. But we came away with a win, we were lucky we won 3 out of 3 rugby games. I really enjoyed playing with my friends.
